Share In the prehistoric days our ancestors were hunters/gatherers and they were on the move all day. They were perfectly built for this nomadic life style.
Over time our ancestors became sedentary and physical activity slowed down.
The last century - due to industrialisation and transport by car, free time spent in front of the TV, working behind a desk - physical inactivity increased even more. The only problem is: our bodies didn’t adapt to this sedentary life style.

We all know that if we don’t exercise regularly, a decrease of our life expectation is inevitable. Also the quality of our life will be in reverse gear because the chance of getting diseases like high blood pressure, cardiovascular problems, low metabolism, high levels of cholesterol, diabetes and some types of cancer, is increasing.

However, the latest scientific studies show that even exercising thirty minutes a day isn’t enough to keep diseases at a healthy distance!!
A new study at the University of South Carolina showed that adult men who spent more than 23 hours a week sitting, have 64 percent more risk to die from a heart disease then the men who spent less than 11 hours sitting a week. All men exercised routinely.

Dr. Toni Yancey, a professor in the health services department of Los Angeles, recommends hourly breaks during a full day of sitting. Also replacing a desk chair with an exercise ball gives good results because the big muscles in the back and thighs have to work constantly to maintain balance.

An Australian study proved that hourly mini breaks of one minute during the day can make a real difference and shows benefits to every organ in the body.

My conclusion is that we still don’t know everything there is to know about how to stay healthy. We will follow the results of further studies closely and keep you informed!!
